This is the CD release of Debra Laws' 1981 album, which captured the hearts of young club fans to free soul fans, as the original of "Very Special," which Big Daddy Kane, "the Barry White of the rap world" (though not officially nicknamed), sampled and covered in '93 and made a hit. This album, which is gaining renewed appreciation as a hidden masterpiece of the early 80's black music scene along with Patrice Rushen, was produced by Narada Michael Walden, and Debra sings with a glossy voice, mainly on groovy numbers with a jazz taste. Incidentally, we also hope for a reissue of Big Daddy Kane's version, which has gone out of print.
